Teach your kids to know, love, and live God’s Word by walking through the Old & New Testaments using the new Apologia Bible curriculum, The Word in Motion!
When it works, why change? That is exactly how I feel about Apologia. We have used many, MANY of their homeschool curriculum products and not once have I been disappointed.
Just to give you an idea, we have used General Science, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Health & Nutrition, What We Believe, and more – all Apologia products!
(Don’t miss my Apologia Earth Science, elementary math, American Lit, Writers in Residence, and Readers in Residence reviews.)
Yes, in case you can’t tell, I am an Apologia fan!

I received this product free of charge for review purposes and was compensated for my time. All opinions expressed in this post are my own and I was not required to post a positive review of the product.
So, when I found out about The Word in Motion Bible curriculum for homeschool, I jumped at the opportunity to check it out! Besides, I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed!
And, I was right! The Word in Motion is awesome! It is an excellent way for elementary and middle school aged kids to walk through the Bible! I absolutely love how Apologia describes the benefits of using the curriculum:
“Teach them to know, love, and live God’s Word by showing them how the books of the Bible fit together to tell the grand story of God’s love for His people. Once they see and know the big picture, even kids can read the Word with purpose and passion, and real understanding.”

Yes, your kids CAN know the Bible!
About The Word in Motion
The Word in Motion is a two-volume Bible study that “equips families to read the Word of God with passion, purpose, and big-picture understanding.” Volume 1 covers the people, places, events, and the thirty-nine books of the Old Testament. Volume 2 covers the people, places, events, and the twenty-seven books of the New Testament.
“Along the journey, students will gain a deeper understanding of how all the parts of the Bible fit together to form a single, glorious story of God’s love for humanity and His plan for our redemption.”

To utilize the curriculum you’ll need:
- The Word in Motion textbook(s)
- The Word in Motion Notebooking Journal(s) (one per student)
- the Book Extras website (access info is provided in the journal)
- the corresponding streaming videos
*There is an optional audiobook that is available as a downloadable MP3 file. Although not required, the audiobook can be a useful tool for auditory learners.

The Notebooking Journal [My Favorite]
One of my all-time favorite things about Apologia is their use of notebooking journals. These are priceless!
The Word in Motion journals provide an excellent way for students to not only showcase what they are learning, but to document their thoughts and prayers as well!
Within The Word in Motion journals, students will complete:
- lesson notes
- memory verses
- coloring pages
- review questions
- activities
- prayer pages
And, that’s not it! Special activities include creating motion disk flashcards and key word flash cards, making a Bible story line mini book, and compiling another Bible mini book containing both the books of the Bible and the corresponding key words.
Multi-learning Style Approach
All kids benefit when a multi-learning style approach is used! Of course, the folks at Apologia incorporated this into The Word in Motion Bible curriculum.
While the curriculum focuses highly on kinesthetic learning, the motions, which build incrementally through the course, are “a starting point for an expanded curriculum that engages the heart, head, and hands.”
Regardless of your student’s learning style—visual, auditory, verbal, or kinetic, The Word in Motion will have them not only learning the key people, places, and events from every book of the Old and New Testaments, but remembering them as well!
Easy to Understand Bible Curriculum for Homeschool
The Bible can be overwhelming for young learners, but it doesn’t have to be!
“The Word in Motion Bible curriculum takes the INTIMIDATION out of teaching Scripture.”
-Apologia website
Apologia makes the Bible easy to understand through the use of streaming videos with vibrant illustrations, engaging narratives, compelling discussion questions, and memorable character profiles.
Apologia tackles topics such as sanctification, justification, prophecy, adultery, repentance, circumcision, Pentecost, tithing, providence, covenants, God’s sovereignty, the Antichrist, and more – addressing them in ways that are not only Biblically sound, but are easily understood by young learners.
Easy to Teach Apologia Bible Curriculum
So, maybe you’re thinking – “All this sounds, great, but I don’t have the time or the energy to add something more to my plate.”
Well, you’ll be happy to know that as with most of the Apologia products, The Word in Motion curriculum doesn’t require a teacher’s manual and…drum roll, please…NO prep time is needed!
The textbook provides a weekly rhythm so that you know exactly what to do each day. No guesswork here! It’s all laid out for you and it’s easy to follow with clear instructions.
Teaching about the Bible has never been easier!
