Homeschool parents – plan the entire school year in minutes with Homeschool Planet’s Professional Plug-in Lesson Plans!

In case you aren’t aware, I absolutely LOVE Homeschool Planet. I’ve been using their online homeschool planner for almost 10 years! I have raved over how much time it saves me with homeschool lesson planning. I’ve talked about how I no longer experience the dreaded Sunday night dash to plan out all the school assignments for the upcoming week. Why mess with a good thing, right?

I received this product free of charge for review purposes and was compensated for my time. All opinions expressed in this post are my own and I was not required to post a positive review of the product.

Well, up until now, I had never tried any of the Homeschool Planet professional lesson plans. Let me tell you – it’s kinda like I had a Ferrari, but never drove it over 45 miles an hour – because I didn’t know what kind of engine I had under the hood!

Not a car person? How about this analogy? It’s like having a bread machine and just making basic white bread – not knowing that you can also use the bread machine to make pizza dough, sticky buns, strawberry jam, and more!

About Homeschool Planet:

In case you haven’t seen my review, you can read more about Homeschool Planet and why I love it so much! It is the last homeschool planner I will ever need!

Read my Homeschool Planet review HERE!

Suffice it to say, I had no clue that the Homeschool Planet Lesson Plan Marketplace was such a game-changer.

I was able to use their plug-in homeschool lesson plans to schedule out both math and science for the entire year in less than 15 minutes (and that includes the time it took for me to grab screenshots to document the step-by-step process for you!)

Professional Homeschool Lesson Plans

But first, let’s talk a bit about the lesson plans themselves. Essentially the folks at Homeschool Planet have taken tons of homeschool curricula, gone through the publisher’s suggested lesson plans, and created the assignments to be imported into Homeschool Planet.

Basically, they have done all the lesson planning work for me (and you).

Rather than typing out all of the assignments myself, I just press a few buttons, and viola, the entire class is planned out for the whole year!

Now, that is what I call the ultimate, time-saving, homeschool strategy – professional, plug-in lesson planning!

Now, let me show you how to use the lesson plans.

Plug-in Lesson Plans with Step-by-Step Instructions

First, I opened up my Homeschool Planet online planner. I don’t know what it is, but there’s just something gratifying about seeing all my kids’ assignments in one place just waiting to be completed!

I love the little green boxes. FYI – green means completed!

By far, the hardest part of using the plug-in lesson plans was actually locating the lesson plans within Homeschool Planet.

I felt like a dunce when I finally discovered where they were. It was smooth sailing after that. FYI – just click the down arrow by the word “Calendar.” (see below)

Locating Homeschool Planet Lesson Plans

Step 1 – Select Lesson Plan

Click “Lesson Plans” to see all the homeschool lesson plans you’ve purchased. Then click “Apply this lesson plan”

Step 2 – Create Class

A box will pop up asking if you want to “Create a new class” or “Apply to an existing class.” Since my boys will be taking Apologia Chemistry next year, I selected “Create a new class.”

Step 3 – Select Assignments

Next, a box pops up asking which assignment to include. Of course, I select “All assignments in the class” because I know that I can remove assignments later if I want to. Easy-peasy!

However, if you want to go through and hand-pick the assignments at this point, you can! There’s tons of flexibility!

Step 4 – Choose Subject

After I make my selection, another box pops up asking the subject of the class. Since it’s Chemistry, I select Science.

If you don’t see the subject you’re looking for, there is an option to add a subject. (The option is cut off in my screenshot because I have already created so many subjects.)

Step 5 – Select Participating Students

Next, I select the students taking the class. You also have the option to add family members here as well.

Step 6 – Determine Class Schedule

Now I select the class schedule. Since it’s for the upcoming school year, I select “Next school year.” I want them to do Chemistry Monday through Friday, so I select all five days.

I love that there is even a note indicating what the publisher suggests.

And, lastly, I don’t require my kids to do their work at a specific time of the day, so I select “No particular time”

Step 7 – Set Up Grading & Grading Categories

Next, I have the option of using the suggested grading for the class or creating my own.

Now the program attempts to match up my grading categories with the suggested grading categories. Since I don’t already have a category called “Test” (my equivalent category is “Tests” – plural) it asks me to choose a corresponding category.

So, I select my grading category “Tests.” Simple!

Step 8 – Finish up!

Now it’s time to create the class!

And add it to the calendar! But don’t worry you can always go in and make changes as needed.

You can see that in addition to the Apologia Chemistry class, I’ve followed the same steps to plug-in our math class for next year as well. Fast and easy! Love it!!

Save Time with Homeschool Planet Homeschool Lesson Plans

Seriously, the Homeschool Planet homeschool lesson plans were SUPER easy to set up. It’s true – essentially all I had to do was click a few buttons and the entire class was planned out for the whole school year in minutes!

I’m certain it would have taken me longer just to find the paddle for my bread machine!

My only regret is not trying the lesson plans sooner! I love finding ways to be more efficient with my time and I’m really kicking myself on this one!
