Discover more about the Discover! Curriculum – it’s the perfect homeschool math curriculum blend of textbook, online & hands-on activities!

Hands-on math games and activities! I absolutely love them! Throughout pre-k to about 6th grade, I regularly added math games and activities to my homeschool lesson plans.

Plus, I always tried to add real-life applications and connections so my kids could realize the importance of mathematics in our everyday life. From measuring to bake cookies to calculating the distance to basketball practice.

But, I’m a former math teacher. In fact, not only did I teach math, I majored in mathematics in college – because I love it so much!

I received this product free of charge for review purposes and was compensated for my time. All opinions expressed in this post are my own and I was not required to post a positive review of the product.

But, I get it – not every homeschool parent shares my same affinity for numbers and calculations.

And, that’s totally cool!

Because you can now get the benefits of hands-on math games, engaging activities, real-world applications, and more in a homeschool math curriculum without having to come up with it yourself or cumbersomely try to add it to your current curriculum.

And, if that weren’t enough, there’s an interactive, online component and fully-developed, one-on-one Instructor Guides. All my non-math people, rejoice!!

The guides tell you exactly what to do and how to teach. Plus, the online component is an excellent supplement to an already complete homeschool math curriculum. Let me explain…

The Discover! Math Homeschool Curriculum

Easy-to-Follow Lesson Plans

We all know that when it comes to teaching math, most kids learn best in a one-to-one setting. They are able to ask questions and receive direct instruction specifically catered to their needs.

The Discover! Math 6 Curriculum comes with super easy-to-follow, fully developed Instructor Guides making lesson planning a breeze so that you can teach your child – even if you don’t love math like me!

Simply gather the required materials and follow along in the guide!

In addition to all the activities, one of my favorite parts of the Instructor Guide is that it addresses learning styles. As I said, one of the benefits of one-to-one instruction is that the teaching can be catered to the needs of the child.

Whether you’ve got an auditory, visual, or kinesthetic learner, the Discover! Math Curriculum provides activities for each learning style!

The Discover! Curriculum Math 6 Textbook

I love this textbook. I know that might sound crazy, but remember, I nerd out on math. First, I love that it’s horizontal.

Math can be “scary” and I believe that the horizontal positioning makes the textbook more appealing and less intimidating.

Second, I love that it’s full color. Who wants to do math problems in a boring black-and-white textbook? I know my kids don’t!

Third, I love that it’s not jam-packed with a bunch of math problems. Yes, that may sound counter-intuitive. But, hear me out! There’s plenty of opportunity to practice math problems, it’s not a bunch of unnecessary busy work.

While there are ample practice problems, what I really appreciate are the hands-on activities and real-life connections.

Hands-on Learning & Real-Life Applications

Sure, kids need to practice math problems. But I firmly believe that some of the best, most productive learning takes place when kids don’t even realize they are learning. When they are having fun.

This is where all of the hands-on activities and real-life applications come into play. Students are challenged to think critically, express their thoughts and ideas, and complete fun projects that help cement what they’re learning.

Interactive Online Learning

And, in addition to the printed curriculum, there is also the option to utilize the online portion of the Discover! Math 6 Curriculum.

But, do you have to utilize the online supplement?

No, the printed curriculum can stand alone and is great by itself.

However, while neuroscience may confirm that young learners need pencil and paper and active learning, we all know that most kids in the generation enjoy interactive online learning.

Discover! provides the best of both worlds!

Discover! Curriculum Math 6 Online Practice

Discover!’s easy online interface makes staying on track easy. But, as your schedule changes, your online learning schedule can change with you!

I especially appreciate that the online interface provides audio for kids to listen to. This is particularly helpful for those who are more advanced in math than in reading – allowing the student to continue to flourish mathematically without being hindered by their reading abilities. (Helpful Hint – if you don’t see the audio symbol, simply highlight the text to begin listening to the text.)
