Learn the benefits of building a robust vocabulary using the Wordela vocabulary program for homeschoolers!

Words – my husband loves them. Quite often he uses words that I just don’t know.

For example, the other day, he said he needed to speak with more perspicuity. I don’t know what perspicuity means! Do you? Or what about undulate? Scurrility? Or insouciant?

I didn’t know what any of those words meant when he used them.

He loves words so much that he has an index card filled with some of his favorite words (none of which I know the meaning of). He’s one of “those” people who subscribes to a word-a-day email. Needless to say, his vocabulary is always growing every single day!

Mine? Not so much.

I received this product free of charge for review purposes and was compensated for my time. All opinions expressed in this post are my own and I was not required to post a positive review of the product.

Sure, I give him a hard time about his crazy, big vocabulary. But, when it boils down to it, I want my kids to have the same robust vocabulary. And for multiple reasons! Here are just a few:

1. Sound Smarter with a Large Vocabulary

I don’t know what it is about people who use big words. But, they just sound smart. They command more respect and gain instant credibility. I definitely want people to have that impression of my kids! So, having a large vocabulary is key!

2. Improve Standardized Test Scores by Building Vocabulary

As a homeschooler, I’m always leery of people questioning my kid’s transcripts. Surely if mom is giving the grades, she’s handing out all A’s right?

Wrong! My kids have to earn every A they get.

And, for this reason, I require my kids to take standardized tests. I see it as a way to “backup” or support the grades on their transcript.

Sure, they may have a 4.0 GPA, but they also have a 1420 SAT score. And having a surefire vocabulary will only help improve their standardized test scores even more!

3. Maintain a Sharp Mind by Learning Vocabulary

I’ve been told that learning new things keeps your mind sharp! Now that I’m getting older, I am much more aware of the necessity of maintaining a sharp mind. It’s helpful not only in education and the workplace but in everyday life!

I see daily vocabulary improvement as an easy way to help maintain a sharp mind. And, of course, I want that for my kids.

Umm, I want that for myself! Perhaps I should subscribe to the word-a-day emails like my husband!

An Effective Vocabulary Program for Homeschoolers

Needless to say, there are benefits to having an expansive vocabulary. But, I’m not convinced that subscribing to a word-a-day email is the best way to achieve it.

That’s why I jumped at the opportunity to try Wordela Homeschool. This vocabulary program for homeschoolers is a great way to help your kids sound smart, do well on standardized tests, and sharpen their minds!
