My kids LOVE doing science experiments! However, science experiments can be complicated. Time consuming. A lot of work…and just plain difficult, especially when you don’t have pictures showing exactly what to do!

I received these books free of charge for review purposes and I was financially compensated for my time. All opinions expressed in this post are my own and I was not required to post a positive review of the product.

However, science experiments are made super easy with the Tabletop Scientist Book Series from Dover Publications!

The Benefits of Tabletop Scientist:

The Tabletop Scientist book series makes science experiments easy for three simple reasons!

1) Full-Color Pictures! There are loads of pictures throughout the books for ALL of the experiments, guiding you step by step! No need to guess what your experiment should look like!

2) Easy-to-Understand Explanations! Scientific explanations are provided right on the page for every experiment. No need to ask Siri “Why…?” The answers are right on the page!

3) Helpful References! Historical information and a handy glossary are both included in the back of each book! Again, this makes it easy when the kids ask you what a word means…and you don’t know! Just send them to the back of the book! Plus, there are lots of suggestions for further investigations if you or your kids want to explore more!

More About Each Science Book:

The Tabletop Scientist series includes 4 books; each about air, light, sound, and water. Designed for children ages 10 and up, each book retails for $6.99. Keep reading for more details!

The Science of Air:

In The Science of Air, kids will learn the science of the wing, build a hovercraft, discover what makes wind blow, and much more!

We had a blast learning about air resistance by making wind testers using identical toy cars. We taped a curved piece of paper to one car and a bent piece on the other. Observing the speed at which they descended down the ramp towards the fan, we learned all about car drag!

The Science of Light:

In The Science of Light, kids will discover the many colors of light, the magnifying power of lenses and mirrors, how light can turn corners, and lots more!

We had fun learning how to paint with light by creating a color splitter. The kids learned about chromatography by watching the pigments of the marker separate.

The Science of Sound:

In The Science of Sound, kids will learn about how sound waves can knock things over, how to talk through a string, how to make their own musical instruments, and much more!

Using identical glasses with varying different amounts of water, we built a bottle xylophone. They had a blast making their own songs as the learned all about pitch and frequencies.

The Science of Water:

In The Science of Water, kids will discover the power of hydraulics, the strength of water’s surface, how to harness water’s energy using a wheel, and lots more!

We had a great time learning how materials can dissolve into water. The kids loved making the mid-water fish floater! Learning all about density, the kids discovered why the “fish” floated on top of the salt water (on the bottom of the container) and sunk to the bottom of the the fresh water (on the top of the container).

Mama’s Verdict:

With the Tabletop Scientist Series from Dover Publications, I am finding myself enjoying science experiments just as much as my kids! Simply select an experiment from the book, gather the materials, and let the fun and learning begin! Science experiments made easy! Gotta love that!
