It is hard to believe but the summer is almost over! We are planning to start our school year on Monday, August 13th and I am SO very excited to be using My Father’s World again! In fact, my kids are visiting their grandparents for a week, which means I am busy preparing for school! I can hardly believe that I will have a 4th grader, two 2nd graders, and two kindergarteners! Where oh where does the time go? Here is what we have planned for our 2012-2013 school year:
Bible: The Discipleship Curriculum: The Creator (as our primary Bible study) AND Grapevine Studies (as they tie into our My Father’s World Creation to the Greeks study) AND We Choose Virtues (as part of our calendar time).
Math: Singapore Primary Mathematics 4A-B (will finish up 3B first)
Science: My Father’s World CtG (includes books shown below plus a few extra ones I’ve added) AND Little Professor Science Kits AND activities from Crowe’s Nest Media: Your Backyard DVDs

Music: My Father’s World CtG AND piano lessons
Typing: Typing Instructor
Spanish: Sonrisas Spanish School
Bible: I am so thrilled that my oldest three kids will all be doing a lot of subjects together now! That is one of the things I love about My Father’s World! Bible is one of the subjects we will be doing together! See above for more about our curriculum choices!
Math: Singapore Primary Mathematics 2A-B (will finish up 1B first)
Science: See above
Spelling: Spell to Write and Read AND SpellQuizzer AND various spelling printables

Music: My Father’s World CtG AND perhaps piano lessons (we are still deciding on this one!)
Typing: See above
Spanish: See above
Bible: The little boys will be participating in our Bible curricula listed above as best they can. However, Bible is also included in their My Father’s World Kindergarten curriculum.
Math: Although I used Singapore Math Essentials with my other kids for kindergarten, I am still debating if I will use it for my little guys!
Science: Science in integrated into the MFW Kinder curriculum. Some of our fun activities will include a Butterfly Garden, an Ant Hill, and learning about What Really Happened to the Dinosaurs.
Handwriting: My older three kids all have successfully learned cursive in kindergarten, but I’m not so sure my little guys are ready. I plan to use Cursive First, but if it proves to be too much, I will back off and wait until 1st grade.
Spelling: Spell to Write and Read AND various spelling printables
Arts & Crafts: I will incorporate lots of crafts based on our MFW Kindergarten lessons and our MFW Kindergarten printables.
Spanish: See above
Well, that’s what we have planned for the 2012-2013 school year! What are your curriculum plans? |

Amy, thanks for your kind words! Off the top of my head, I do not know of anyone blogging through Adventures. I would suggest that you try looking at the MFW Blogroll to find bloggers who are doing Adventures. Hope that helps! FYI, here’s the link to the blogroll: http://www.amamasstory.com/p/mfw-2012-2013-blogroll.html

Do you know anyone who blogs consistenly on MFW Adventures? You do such an awesome job on your website, so bummed you are on the cycle and not doing Adventures with your boys.
Darnetta
I will be using MFK K this year too. Do you do any extra phonics supplements? I read from somewhere that it may not be challenging enough for students that already know letters and sounds. Since you have already gone through K I am curious to know what your thoughts are. This is my first time. thanks!
Mama Jenn
Thanks Becky! I hope it will be fun!! 😉

Hi Drina! Yes, I am still using the workbox system, but I have made more changes to our version of the system. I hope to post about the changes soon!
Becky Marie
Looks like a lot of fun!
Drina
I really enjoy MFW for my kiddos and I really enjoyed seeing your line up! I have a question for you though…are you still using your workbox system for your kids? I used the system a few years back but like you i now have more students and in no way can set up 4 sets of those!
Mama Jenn
Glad to know that Singapore gets high recommendations from you! That is all we have been using and so far I like it…though, I am a former math teacher…so I could be a bit biased! I just love math…period! LOL!
Mama Jenn
Thanks! English from the Roots Up is one of the My Father’s World recommendations.
Mama Jenn
Totally!!! New books for school make me all giddy on the inside! 😉

Thanks Carolyn! Yes, the week of planning was great! Though, for some reason, I still did not get everything done that I would have liked! But, I am one who make never-ending to-do lists! LOL!!
I do hope to link up with our school room. It has changed quite a bit b/c we have moved to a new home since I last posted about our school room!!

Just wanted to share that I’ve compiled a list of links for the MFW K program. It’s taken from message boards and some of what I found. Anyway, if you are interested, here is the link to my blog post: http://renegadehomeschooler.wordpress.com/2012/08/10/my-fathers-world-kindergarten/
I’m finishing up K still as we didn’t finish it all last year. I’m also doing 1850 to Modern times with my 8th grader. My other daughter is not doing MFW this year. I’m a little sad about that! Looks like you will be busy too!
Trooppetrie
i love when all the books come in. It is like Christmas.Well maybe not because we do not spend that much at Christmas
Carolyn
Looks like a great year planned! How nice you are able to have a full week uninterrupted to plan and get ready!! God is so good! Can’t wait to check out your school room next week, if anything has been changed or updated. 🙂 See you then!

Hi! This blog was really impressive and so biblical. found some perfect Holiday content on it that needs a wider audience. I’m a publisher of Learn Your Christmas Carols Blog with more than 25,000 visitors. I’ve published lyrics and videos to nearly 100 different popular, traditional, funny and obscure holiday songs. This year, I will include links on Christmas recipes. Is there any content you would like to contribute with me? The only thing you would do is a link back in your sidebar or footer. If you are interested just email me at [email protected] or tweet me at http://twitter.com/juliegallaher. I’m looking forward to your positive response. Thanks!
Michelle
I look forward to hearing how your year with MFW Creation to Greeks goes. We are planning on using it next year!
Giggly Girls
Great stuff. I wish I could combine somewhat but since they’re 7 years apart that isn’t going to happen. lol Although the sixth grader does like to do the pre-k art projects. Does that count? Probably not as it just keeps her from her own work. lol
Popping in from the blog hop.

I went to a FANTASTIC Singapore Math conference this year. I will be working on a post about it very soon. AMAZING stuff. It made me even more committed to Singapore Math.
I will have to check out your bible curriculum choices…I always struggle with finding a resource in this area that we like.
ticiaM
It’s so wonderful to have all the kids studying together isn’t it?

Hi Jennifer, I’m so excited that we will also be using MFW CTG! Will you be creating/posting any bible verse printables for CTG like you did for ECC last year? Those were extremely helpful, and our children loved them! Thanks so much, and blessings to you all this new school year!
Sharla K
English from the Roots Up sounds interesting…have never heard of it before. It looks like you are organized for another great year!
Cooperkelly4
Look great! We did CTG last year and loved it. We also use SWR and spellquizzer too. I am curious how long it takes you on an average day for school? I have 4 kids and we are really adding to our load this year with some extra science and writing, plus our normal math (MUS), SWR, and RTR. Just curious…. thanks!
MomsMustardSeeds
While I have not used any of the curriculum you have listed, it looks like a GREAT line up!!!! Here’s to a high five, a prayer and a great year!
Jennifer Story
We’re doing CTG this year too. As much as we loved ECC, I’m looking forward to starting the history portion of the 5-year cycle. When will you start?
Dawn
It looks like a great plan! Have a wonderful year.
Blessings, Dawn
