In case you would like to take a peek at our school room, here are a few pics. First off, our school room doubles as the kid’s playroom. Half of the room is dedicated to our school room and the other half has couches, a TV, the kid’s computer, and floor space. The photo below gives you a general idea of what the space looks like.

Here are some more pics to give you an idea of how I/we have things laid out. I just LOVE having the desks in the room. It makes me really feel like I have my very own class! I was able to find them for like $3 each at a surplus sale at our local university. You can also see how calendar board in this photo.

One of my other favorite finds was this great white board. I found it at a thrift store for $2.50. (I only wish it was magnetic…but for $2.50 I can’t complain!)

The bookshelf is yet another of our great finds, also from the surplus sale. We had to paint it, but for $10, if was just what we needed! I love that I can fit most of our large boxes/bins on it. Plus it is pretty deep, so I actually have more stuff stored behind the stuff that you can see.

Notice the little red, yellow, and blue storage set? I just got it (from a thrift store of course) a month or so ago. It is missing the top set of bins, but a few Dollar Store bins on top will have to do the trick!  🙂  I am hoping that I will be able to use it for my little boys. They do well with their trays, but I think something more like a basket or bin may work a bit better for now. So, I plan to give it a shot!  😉

Below is a closer photo of our “work” area. The shelving unit ($10…surplus sale) houses our book bin, recycle bin, easy readers, workboxes, the kid’s cubbies, and their calendar notebooks, among other things.

Finally, I have been asked by a few people to post a photo of our My Father’s World timeline. I just used push pins to secure a long piece of ribbon on the wall. Then I used mini clothespins to attach each timeline piece. For now, it is located high on the wall above the white board. However, I plan to move it so that it is more accessible…just not sure where I’m going move it to!

Well, that is our school room. Be sure to head over to Heart of the Matter to join in the Not-Back-to-School Blog Hop fun to see other homeschool school rooms!

By the way, I have two REALLY awesome giveaways coming up. So be on the lookout! Want a clue? Let me just say world geography and lunchboxes for homeschoolers!  🙂
