When I began homeschooling my children, I knew the importance of them learning a second language, so I starting teaching Spanish to them myself. As they approached middle school, I quickly realized my inadequacy as their Spanish teacher. So, I began to search for another option.

Earn High School Foreign Language Credit

In order to obtain high school credit, students should register for the 50 minute classes. Approximately sixty classes will earn one full high school credit. Taking classes twice a week, this would equate to about 30 weeks.

Our Experience with Homeschool Spanish Academy

We signed up for a free trial class. I was impressed with how well the instructor was able to assess my daughter’s knowledge of the Spanish language!

In fact, after the assessment, the teacher indicated that my daughter wasn’t quite ready for their Spanish 3 class. Apparently, HSA is indeed “more rigorous” than the public school where my daughter took Spanish 1 and 2.

I left the free trial class a bit discouraged at the news that she wasn’t quite ready to start Spanish 3, but I was pleased because I could tell that HSA would be a wonderful option for continuing to earn high school Spanish credit! Let me explain!

I signed my daughter up and purchased our first set of 50 minute classes. We read through the bios and somehow selected the perfect teacher for my daughter! The best part is that we were able to schedule all of the classes according to our own schedule and needs!

During the first official class, we got to know the teacher a bit and she asked about our goals and learning expectations. I appreciate that HSA allows for tailored learning as fast or as slowly as needed! We discussed a plan for getting my daughter caught up and moving onto Spanish 3.

And, that is exactly what we did. My daughter has been taking classes with Homeschool Spanish Academy since August 2018.

With the help of her amazing teacher, my daughter has gotten caught up and has completed Spanish 3. We purchased more classes and she is currently enrolled in Spanish 4! Her teacher is awesome and I really couldn’t have asked for a better situation!
