Looking for an easy, educational science experiment for your homeschooler? Check out this complete at-home water testing kit & FREE printable!

Science experiments are always a big hit in our homeschool. But, I have found that successful science experiments require a few key things: 1) all the necessary supplies and equipment and 2) an easy way to document what was learned from the experiment.

Today, I’ve got a science experiment for you that meets both of these requirements!

I received this product free of charge for review purposes and was compensated for my time. All opinions expressed in this post are my own and I was not required to post a positive review of the product.

Successful Science Experiments: Kits

A successful science experiment requires that one have all the necessary supplies and equipment.

I’m certain that I’m not the only mom who has gotten her kids all excited about an experiment, only to realize that I forgot to pick up a super important item that is a must-have for the experiment.

Or, how about this one…someone unknowingly used up the last of something that you needed for the much-anticipated experiment you were planning for the next day. Yep, that has happened to me too!

My solution? Kits! I love science experiment kits. I mean, what homeschool mom doesn’t love a box containing everything you need to complete a science experiment? Hello? No last minute stops by the store to pick up supplies that you forgot to get the day before!

So, getting the water testing kit from WaterTestingKits.com was a no-brainer for me! A complete science experiment in a box? Now you’re talking!

It has everything you need to test your water for alkalinity, hardness, pH, iron, chlorine, copper, and more! All you have to do is decide on and collect your water sources.

From the test containers to the testing strips to the comparison chart, it’s all included!

Plus, I even got the electronic TDS/temperature meter to use! (Note: The TDS meter is not included in the basic 4-Pack School Experiment Water Testing Kit.)

Kits are definitely, without-a-doubt my preferred method for science experiments! Check out these water testing kits:

Successful Science Experiments: Documentation

A successful science experiment also requires a way to document or share what was learned from the experiment.

Am I the only mom who wants something to show for all that went into preparing and doing science experiments? A notebooking page? A lap report? A diagram or drawing?

Something…you know, to prove that we really did do the experiment and that they kids really did learn something!

While the water testing kit does include one booklet to record your findings, I’ve got five kids…and they each want their own booklet.

Although they will do the experiment together, they each need a way to record their findings, discoveries, and observations.

So, I created a water testing results printable for me (and you) to use to document the water testing results and observations for up to four water samples.

Simply follow the instructions included in the kit for testing your water, record the names of your water samples and document the results based on the included testing comparison chart!

Easy-peasy! And all of your kids have something to show for completing the experiment!

Now that you know about the value of science experiment kits plus the free printable I created, do you want a water testing kit for your kids to use?
