We had a blast with Truth in the Tinsel last year! In fact, as soon as I pulled out our ornaments from last year, the kids quickly asked if we were doing Truth in the Tinsel again this year!

I was certain that our Christmas tree and the garland on our staircase simply could not hold another round of handmade Truth in the Tinsel ornaments for five kids. However, I immediately let them know that we were doing it again, but with a little twist! This year we are using the new coordinating printable ornaments: Laminated…with BLING on a RING!!! Catchy, huh?! {grins}

They are still fun for the kids! The don’t take up as much room on the tree! They are durable and can last for years to come! And, there is minimal messiness involved!

How it works {for us}: I still follow all of the instructions in the Truth in the Tinsel eBook with the addition of our CHRISTmas Countdown and clue cards. The only change from last year is that we have simply substituted the printable ornaments for the handmade ornaments.

Ornament Supplies:

  • Printable Truth in the Tinsel Ornaments (printed on cardstock)
  • crayons, markers, colored pencils
  • Sparkle Mod Podge
  • book rings (1 for each set of ornaments)
  • paint brush
  • scissors
  • hole punch
  • curling ribbon (optional)

Making Our Ornaments:

First we color our ornaments and then add some bling with the Sparkle Mod Podge. Simply use a paint brush to “paint” the sparkly wherever you would like it to be on your ornament. The ornaments look so cute with all the shimmer! In fact, I think this is my kid’s most favorite part! (FYI, you may not be able to see the sparkle well in the photos, but you can definitely see it in person!)

Once the Mod Podge is dry, I run the ornaments through my lovely laminator! Yes, I love my laminator!

Then the kids trim their ornament, hole punch their ornament and add it to their ring. Below are my daughters’ ornaments through day 5. She opted to add some curling ribbon to decorate hers a bit more.

Finally, (each day) the kids hang their ring of ornaments back on the garland on our banisters, usually with the most recent ornament showing. So, instead of 120 ornaments (24 days x 5 kids), I really only have 5 new ornaments (six if you include mine)!

So, there you have it…our Printable Truth in the Tinsel Ornaments: laminated, with BLING on a RING!

This is my first year using Truth in the Tinsel and I L O V E it!!!! We hand make the ornaments some days and use the printables on other days (depending on our time frame). I did not think of laminating them though – great idea!!! Love it and I love catch phrase – laminated with bling on a ring!!! Thanks so much for always inspiring me to do better in teaching my girls about Christ!

That is a GREAT idea! I had all the neighborhood kids over last year to do Truth, but by the end I was so over doing the ornaments x 10. *whew* This seems a whole lot easier to manage. Thanks!
