One of the things I’ve always appreciated about My Father’s World is how it introduces our children to great people, great ideas, and great works of art throughout history.

As we travel through each historical time period, our children don’t just learn dates and events, they also become familiar with the musicians whose compositions have stood the test of time.

If you’re anything like I was during our homeschooling years, you probably enjoy adding simple notebooking activities to help your children remember what they’re learning.

That’s exactly why I created my new Learning About Great Composers notebooking pages to supplement the My Father’s World homeschool curriculum.

What’s Included?

The Learning About Great Composers printable includes a notebook cover page along with three different notebooking page layouts for every composer.

Each page already includes the composer’s name at the top, making it easy to print only the pages you need.

For every composer, you’ll receive:

• A blank notebooking page for sketches, timelines, notes, or creative projects.
• A page with primary handwriting lines and open space for illustrations – perfect for younger students.
• A page with standard writing lines and illustration space for older elementary and middle school students.

Whether your children enjoy drawing, writing narrations, copying favorite quotations, or recording interesting facts, you can choose the page that best fits their age and learning style.

Some of these names, like Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Vivaldi, are probably familiar to you already. Others may be brand new. That’s one of the things I love about homeschooling. My children and I learned right alongside each other!

As you move through the My Father’s World history cycle, you’ll have the opportunity to listen to music from each of these composers and learn a little about their lives and contributions.

These notebooking pages simply give your children a place to record what they’re learning, whether that’s a few interesting facts, a favorite piece of music, or an illustration inspired by what they heard.

By the end of your studies, you could have a keepsake notebook full of the composers your family explored together.

Listen to the Music

One of the best ways to learn about a composer is to actually listen to the music! We often played classical music in the background while the kids colored or worked on notebooking pages.

It’s a simple way to become familiar with each composer’s style without adding another entire subject to your homeschool day.

Ways to Use These Notebooking Pages

There isn’t one “right” way to use notebooking pages, which is one of the reasons I love them so much!

Your children might:

• Write a short biography of each composer.
• Record interesting facts they learn during your studies.
• Draw instruments associated with the composer.
• Illustrate scenes inspired by the music.
• Write about their favorite musical selection.
• Keep all of the pages together in a composer notebook they can look back through at the end of the school year.

By the time you finish your history cycle, your children will have created a notebook that reflects everything they’ve learned about these influential musicians.
