Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee BoyWe read this cute little book called Ladybug Girl and Bumble Bee Boy and were inspired to do this modern art project! The book is about a little girl who pretends to be a ladybug and a little boy who…you guessed it..pretends to be a bumble bee.

For our project, I cut some rectangles (about 4×6 inches) out red and yellow cardstock. We used a bottle top and some black acrylic paint to stamp the dots on the red paper…representing the ladybugs. For the bumble bee, we taped masking tape over the yellow cardstock in fairly evenly spaced intervals and painted and painted over it. Then we removed the tape to reveal the lines…representing the bees.

Put them together and viola…modern art inspired by Ladybug Girl and Bumble Bee Boy! I think it turned out great! I plan on framing it and putting it up in our playroom.

I am linking this up with Kiddos Create, Show & Tell at ABC123 and stART!

Love this painting idea. It is so bright, colourful and fun. Particularly like how its linked back to the story book for that element of literacy learning. I’ll have to search the libraries for that one, looks cute.
