Index Card a Day Project {CHAOS}

One of our summer activities has been participating in the ICAD project. My kids are enjoying it and so am I! While we enjoy spontaneous, freelance artwork on our cards, it has also been fun to use some of the weekly ICAD prompts. This week we used the CHAOS prompt.

Index Card a Day {CHAOS}

I guided my kids in a doodling project that I remember enjoying as a child. Simply grab a marker and doodle one continuous, curvy, crazy, chaotic line over the page! {Don’t lift your marker until you are done!}

Then color in the various empty spaces with different color markers…and that’s it!

078

The concept is super easy! Even my 4 year olds had fun and did an awesome job!

Here are our finished index cards! I am so impressed with how well they turned out! Can you even tell which are the kid’s and which is mine?

Index Card a Day {CHAOS}

Why did I choose CHAOS as our prompt?

I chose CHAOS, because I feel like the word accurately depicts my life right now! The crazy, continuous line is me in motion…all the time. As a mama of five, there is always something to be done! Yet, despite the constant motion and my lively, colorful children, it all comes together to make a beautiful masterpiece!

    What a great idea, and something my children will love (and super perfect for a wet wintery day). Love the colours, so vivid and filled with energy.

    I love this, Jenn! I can’t even imagine being a homeschooling mom of five–no wonder you feel like that continuous line always in motion! 🙂 Your kids’ cards look great, and it is such a neat project to include in your curriculum. I am going to share this project with my 3- and 4-year old daughters!

    Thanks Terrie! What is neat is that while it doesn’t have to look like anything when it’s done, it still can look like a great work or art!!!

    Great depiction of chaos and what a great way to include your kids. I remember doing this activity as a child and again as an adult – it’s fun! I love it cuz there are no rules and it doesn’t have to look like anything when you’re done. I can do that!
