“God’s Runaway” Jonah Art Lessons {Review & Giveaway}

We have been fortunate enough to review quite a few DVDs from See The Light and we have been thrilled with ALL of them! So, of course I jumped at the opportunity to review and host a giveaway for God’s Runaway based on the story of Jonah.

image

God’s Runaway Art DVD is not JUST about teaching art to your children. It is completely Biblically based with the focus of “drawing children to Him!” Your child will be taught quality art lessons with Biblical truth woven throughout! God’s Runaway contains 268 minutes of content, including:

  • God’s Runaway: The story of Jonah is artfully brought to life through the captivating artwork of See The Light chalk artist Gloria Kohlmann.
  • OBEY! Art Lesson: Artist Heidi Shorts shows how to use creative lettering with the word, OBEY, to make a fun Jonah themed project.
  • Released! Art Lesson: Follow Master Teacher Pat Knepley in a step-by step drawing lesson using chalk pastels, create your own black light reveal which “clearly” shows what God wants Jonah to do!
  • Salvation is From The Lord Art Lesson: Create your own water color painting with artist Jim Pence.
  • Musical Art: Watch chalk-artist Gloria Kholmann draw her incredible interpretation of the story of Jonah while listening to the music of “Breathing Room” featuring recording artists Jan Roper and Kevin Dukes.
  • Plan of Salvation: Lead little ones to Christ with this remarkably simple, yet creative presentation of the plan of salvation.
  • Listen to chalk artist Gloria Kohlmann’s commentary as she creates her Jonah themed chalk artwork.

As with the other See The Light Art DVDs we have seen, the kids and I loved this DVD! But, since my kids are familiar with See The Light, they were excited to start on the art lessons. They especially loved the creative lettering and the watercolor artwork. The directions were concise and clear and the kids were able to follow along quite well. Below is one of my 6 year olds working on the OBEY! Art Lesson.

One of my 4 year olds even got in on the action. I just love how he followed along and drew his very own whales. He didn’t make it through the entire lesson, but I was thrilled with what he did complete!

My daughter’s favorite part was the watercolor painting with Jim Pence. Here is her completed painting:

176

As expected we thoroughly enjoyed God’s Runaway! Yet again, as with The Gift of Love AND The Crossmaker our ONLY disappointments were in our lack of art supplies…again. This time around I WAS able to purchase the extreme colored pencils but we didn’t have the black light that is used to illuminate the focal points in the artwork. (For some reason I thought the extreme colors would illuminate in the dark without the black light. My kids were not very thrilled when my hypothesis didn’t work! So, while I was able to surprise them with the extreme colors, my next surprise for them will be the black lights so that they can use them to create their own black light reveals.)

imageThe needed art supplies can be purchased separately on the See The Light website or you can purchase God’s Runaway Deluxe Gift Set which contains all of these materials, including the DVD!

Needless to say, we are fans of God’s Runaway! Beautiful art, excellent instruction, and moving music, all while experiencing the love and mercy that God shows to Jonah and to us all!

Still not convinced? Take a peek at God’s Runaway promo:

Be sure to head over to the See The Light website. You will not be disappointed!! You will find all kinds of fun stuff, incredible art instruction, downloads, art projects, and free lessons!

imageWith Christmas right around the corner, won’t you give your child or the children in your life the gift that will help draw them to HIM!

Check out my previous See The Light reviews below. We have LOVED them all!!!

  • ART CLASS: Homeschool Art Curriculum
  • The Crossmaker: based on the Easter Story
  • The Gift of Love: based on the Christmas Story

{I would HIGHLY recommend The Gift of Love! I am planning to use the DVD with my kids again this year as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!}
