Have your kids wanted to get involved with robotics, but you were just a bit nervous about trying it out? Well, this is the kit for you (and your kids)!

Robotics

My First Thoughts: I had the OLLO Action Kit in mind for certain little boys in my house who love to build with Legos. The boys in question often commented on how cool it would be if they could put batteries in their Lego creations to make them move. So, choosing to review this kit was definitely a no-brainer for me!

Included in the Kit:The kit comes neatly packaged in a sturdy plastic carrying case. Included in the case are:

~ 150+ pieces including reconfigurable plates for the riveted building system

~ a motor, battery box & switch

~ an illustrated, no-text instruction manual with 5 different building models

~ FYI, AA battery is required (not included)

What I Love About the Kit: What I love about the kit is that although the instruction manual comes with five different set of building plans, you can un-assemble and reassemble the pieces any way you like to create your very own motorized creations! I LOVE open-ended educational toys!

Our Experience With the Kit: While designed for children ages 8+, my 7 year olds LOVED the kit and had no trouble whatsoever following the directions to make their models! I was pleasantly surprised, because I thought for sure I would have to help them since this was their first experience with robotics! I gave them the box and they got to work building…

…and then proudly showed me their creation! A walking, robotic dinosaur!

…they unassembled the dinosaur and made a windmill “that really spins”!
