I am a bit late getting this posted, but truth be told, we just made these cards yesterday. It has been on my “To-Do List” for at least a month, but we are just now getting around to making them. But, nevertheless, this is what we made to give out for Mother’s Day.The really fun part is that you can pull the middle flower out of the vase and a cute little bookmark is revealed.
So, I must let you know that this is not an original idea. This super cute idea was inspired from this craft at Oriental Trading. I seem to find lots of fun stuff in their magazine that I am able to reproduce using my own materials!
Materials needed: cardstock paper, craft foam, the printable bookmarks & templates, ribbon, glue
So, this is how we made the card. (Unfortunately I didn’t take photos during the process…so I will try to be detailed…being wordy is actually one of my “best” traits!) {grins}
Download and print the bookmarks and templates onto cardstock. I had the kids sign the bottom of the bookmarks and then I used my lovely laminator to laminate them for durability.
Use the template to cut the flowers out of craft foam or you can use pre-cut foam flowers. (I traced the flowers onto the foam colors of their choice and then let them cut them out.)
Next, cut a piece 8.5X11 inch cardstock in half to use as the card…or you can just fold it in half if you want the card to actually open.
Cut out the vase or use it as a template. Cut and glue the ribbon onto the vase and decorate as desired. (We added the Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment to ours.) Glue two of the flowers onto the vase.
Glue the vase to the card with a small bead of glue around the edge of the vase, EXCEPT for the very top AND where the vase bottle-necks. (We ended up using a glue stick b/c regular glue spread too much…you want to be sure that there is enough room so that the bookmark will actually fit into the vase…that’s why you have to be careful with how much glue you use and where you use it.)
Glue the third flower onto the bookmark. Once everything is dry, slide the bookmark into the vase and that is it! {Hopefully that was a decent, not to wordy, explanation for ya!} 🙂
These are our final products! I am so pleased with how they turned out! I think the kids did an awesome job!
