I saw these super cute reindeer ornaments at Oriental Trading and I just KNEW I could figure out how the kids and I could make our own version of the reindeer! This is what we came up:
And this is what we used:
I cut the head and the body our of cardboard (freehand) and let the kids paint both sides of them brown. The kids also painted the three clothespins.
Once it was all dry, I used a glue gun to glue on the eyes and the nose. (You could probably use regular glue, but the kids were in a hurry to hang them, so I opted for the glue gun.) I clipped the clothespins legs onto the body. I clipped the ribbon (for hanging the ornament) inside the third clothespin and clipped it onto the front of the body. (It will hold the head and will be the antlers.) I also took another piece of ribbon and tied it onto the jingle bell.
Finally, I glued the head on the front clothespin and glued the jingle bell just below on the paperclip…and that is it…reindeer complete!
The kids LOVE these and I think they are soooo cute!!! (FYI, we did use acrylic paint so that we could just do one coat.)
