Curriculum Plans for 2009-2010

Well, after much indecisiveness, we have made our curriculum decisions for the upcoming school year. We are mostly sticking with what we had been doing…just adding a few phonics/reading/writing changes. Drum roll please!! {smile}

KJ (age 5.5): We will finish up My Father’s World Kindergarten. We started this last year but did not finish. Once we are done we will move on to the My Father’s World 1st Grade. I have opted to skip the phonics/reading program that they provide with the kindergarten and 1st grade curriculum and we will use Cursive First and Spell to Write and Read. For math, we will continue with Singapore Kindergarten Essentials and we will move into Singapore Primary 1st Grade (Standards Ed).

DC & JJ (ages 4): We will be using Hands on Homeschooling Year 4. We used part of Year 3 last year, but rather than continuing with it, I decided we would start fresh with Year 4. I also plan to s-l-o-w-l-y start them with Spell to Write and Read.

JI & TJ (ages 2): Tot school all the way!!! Just plain fun hands-on learning.

Now, I tend to be on the eclectic side, so I am always finding “stuff” to supplement with,. The curriculum items listed just provide the backbone of what we will be doing. I also find that the older three kids actually enjoy doing each other’s schoolwork. So, I tend to kind of incorporate the MFW and the HOH for all three of them. Of course the little boys want to do what the big three do, so when I can, I do try to incorporate them in whatever I am doing with the older ones.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that I also plan to supplement a bit with Konos wherever I can.
