Practice place value with these fun FREE printable math games! Download the Roll Hundreds and Roll Thousands game boards today!
Learning, in general, is more fun when it is hands-on and engaging, which is why I tend to make lots of printable games. Specifically, I have found that math is a lot more fun for my kids when I create fun, interactive math printables to go along with whatever concept they are learning! Hence, the Roll Hundreds and Roll Thousands games, which are all about place value.
Materials Needed:
- One die labeled with any six numbers from 0-9. (We prefer to use either our Education Cubes or our Write-On Wipe-Off Dice.)
- Dry erase markers
- Roll Hundreds game board (Scroll to download the FREE printable)
Prepare the Game:
Print a Roll Hundreds game board for each person. Laminate for durability and repeated use. Cut the page in half; as there are two game boards per page.
How to Play the Game:
Each player takes turns rolling the die/cube and must decide whether to write the number in either the ones, tens, or hundreds column on their game board without letting the other players see their board.
(However, it is okay for players to see what numbers their opponents roll. In fact, knowing this information can cause players to strategize more with their own number placement.)
Once the number is written, it must stay in that place.
Continue until all players have filled all the columns on their game board. Then reveal the game boards. The player with the highest number wins the round! That player places a tally mark in the Winner box and another round of play continues.
NOTE: While the game must be played with at least two players, there is no maximum number of players.
Sample Game in Action (with two players):
The players each reveal their game boards and determine that Player B has the highest number. So, Player B puts a tally in the Winners column.
The players both erase their boards and continue playing more rounds. Continue placing tally marks to determine the winner of each round. The person with the most tally marks wins the game!
In addition to the Roll Hundreds Place Value Game I have also made a Roll Thousands Game which is played the very same way!
