Propeller is a blog sponsor and I am happy to help them and The Homeschool Movie Club spread the word about Dolphin Tale 2 and the corresponding free curriculum. All opinions expressed in this post are my own and I was not required to post a positive review of the product.

Dolphin Tale 2 Curriculum

I love being able to “sneak in” some educational value into activities that my kids are already excited about. This is exactly what the Dolphin Tale 2 curriculum has done for me! All while the excitement of watching the continuation of Winter’s story in Dolphin Tale 2 has been building, we have been using the curriculum to learn more about dolphins and the oceans in which they live!

This FREE Dolphin Tale 2 movie-based curriculum is found at The Homeschool Movie Club! Simply sign up for updates (which I highly recommend) and all the files and lessons are available for your immediate use!

Thorough & Engaging Lessons

First off, I was pleasantly surprised with how thorough the curriculum is! All while learning about dolphins and ocean life, many subjects are intertwined within the lessons: anatomy, physical science, literature, biology, reading comprehension, geography, composition, art, vocabulary, math, etc!

Included in the curriculum are five major lessons on various different aspects of dolphins and ocean life.

Lesson 1: Get to Know Dolphins

Lesson 2: A Day in the Life of Dolphins

Lesson 3: Dolphins in the Ocean

Lesson 4: Aquarium Life

Lesson 5: Dolphins and Us

Each lesson includes a video lesson and a pdf file with printables and related activities.

My kids especially loved the close up video clips of the dolphins!

Plus, they enjoyed the hands-on learning activities and the art/coloring pages.

All of the lessons contain instructions and activities for elementary through high school-aged students, along with age-appropriate explanations and vocabulary. I appreciate that the lessons are clearly marked for the appropriate grade level!

A Complete Dolphin Unit Study

If that weren’t enough, Classical Conversations teamed up with The Homeschool Movie Club to offer another Dolphin Tale 2 curriculum! The 77 page Classical Conversations Dolphin Tale curriculum is a complete unit study that centers around dolphins and includes the following subjects: biology, history, art, literature, math, language, geography, and Bible.

We are looking forward to continue the educational fun with the Classical Conversations curriculum after we see the movie! With the video lessons and BOTH sets of curriculum, I am excited about all of the learning that I will be able to “sneak in” in conjunction with the movie!

I’m Learning Too!

As an added bonus, I am learning alot too! I am discovering, that’s one of the cool things about homeschooling. As the kids are learning, often times I am learning right along with them! For example, did you know…

  • Dolphins do not smell.
  • Since they can’t smell, they cannot taste their food!
  • They use a process called echolocation to use their melon to identify and locate other fish.
  • No two dorsal fins are exactly alike!
  • Dolphins can hear 7.5 times as well as humans.
  • They can process two images at the same time.
  • They don’t drink water; they get all their hydration from the fish that they eat!
  • Dolphins shut down half their brain in order to not drown while sleeping.

And all is just some of what I/we learned in the very first video!
