Last year for art, my daughter used Drawing with Children by Mona Brookes. One of the suggestions in the book was to do some specific art warm-up activities. These allowed for practice with duplication, matching, and mirror imaging. In order to make it a bit easier on myself, I made up a printable version of the warm-ups and laminated them for re-use (you could also slide them into page protectors). This definitely saved on printer ink and paper!) I would draw the images with a wet erase marker and my daughter would do the exercises with a dry erase marker. That way she could erase her writing without erasing mine. Below are the printables that I made.
FYI…here is an explanation of each page:
Duplication Warm-up: For each row, you draw something in the first box and the child duplicates it in the other three boxes.
Matching Warm-up: For each row, you draw the same thing in all the boxes with just a slight difference. However, the very first box and one of the other boxes need to be EXACTLY the same. The child circles the drawing that is the exact same as the first one.
Mirror Imaging Warm-up: This was by far my daughter’s favorite! There are six boxes with a dotted line down the middle of each of them. You draw something on one side of each of the dotted lines. The child draws the mirror image on the other side.
By the way, since you are doing the drawing for the child to duplicate, mirror and/or match, you can determine how challenging it is for the child!

Thank you so much for the printables! And what a great idea to put them in a page protector to make them reusable! Definitely helps to save on ink and paper!
You are very welcome!

Great ideas!! You rock! 🙂
Yay! Yay! Yay! Thank you for doing this. I have wanted to get started on this book, but have only done the intro lessons with my kids. This is the push I needed to work on some of those activities.
