I enjoy finding new curriculum, especially when it is from one of my favorite publishers! Apologia, of course! Needless to say, once we started experiencing success with Apologia’s reading curriculum, I was intrigued and wanted to know more about their writing program as well!
I received this product free of charge for review purposes and was compensated for my time. All opinions expressed in this post are my own and I was not required to post a positive review of the product.
I appreciate the method of instruction in all of the Apologia curriculum that we have used thus far and I treasure their approach towards incorporating Biblical truths and experiencing the world through a Christ-centered worldview. And, I couldn’t agree more with what Apologia has to say about today’s young writers:
About Apologia’s Writing Curriculum
Apologia’s new writing program, Writers in Residence, is an all-in-one writing curriculum designed for 4th graders and up. The student text and workbook are conveniently combined all in one hefty spiral bound notebook, written directly to the student.
Easy Homeschool Writing
Don’t get me wrong, Writers in Residence is a thorough writing curriculum that also integrates grammar and punctuation! But, it lends itself well to homeschool moms like me who like to minimize “moving parts.” Because the student text and the workbook are all in one, you don’t have to have a lot of “parts” to keep up with. Just grab the notebook and get to work!
Plus, there is a color-coded suggested daily schedule that makes knowing what to do each day a breeze!
A Biblically-Integrated Writing Curriculum
In today’s society, I treasure being able to integrate God’s word into our daily activities! So, naturally, I prefer to use curriculum with a biblical worldview. Writers in Residence does just that!
Not only does it provide “a biblically-based framework for kids to think about language and communicate effectively in writing,” but I particularly like how Christian authors are studied. While learning about various Christian authors, students are potentially exposed to new books and series not only help to improve their reading skills, but are interesting, engaging, and laced with biblical themes and undertones.
